The following information are requirements by the Diocese of Yakima and of Sacred Heart Parish.

• The contracting couple must be 18 years of age.  The couple must meet with Rev, Francisco Gutierrez before a date/time can be set on the parish calendar for their wedding.

• All Catholics must provide a recent copy if their Certificate of Baptism (issued within 6 months of the wedding date).  It is the bride’s/ groom’s responsibility to obtain this document from their church of baptism.  The marriage may not take place without this document.

• The couple must purchase a Civil Marriage License for example, from the Count Auditor’s Office at the Benton County Courthouse in Prosser, or elsewhere), and present it two weeks prior to the wedding date.  The marriage may not take place without this document.

• Catholics preparing for marriage should be active participants in the sacramental life of the church– attending Sunday Mass.
